Big Breasts Show Risk for Diabetes?
Thursday, May 15th, 2008A study was done recently that claimed that women who had large breasts were at a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes than women who had smaller cup sizes. This made every larger breasted woman stand at attention and worry that she was at risk for having diabetes. Like many things in the media, however, this study was exclaimed over without being fully investigated, and it looks like women who have larger breasts do not have to worry as much as they believed.
The study surveyed over 92,000 women, asking each woman what her bra size was at the age of 20 and if she has ever had to deal with diabetes. The results showed that women who had larger cups, such as a B and C cup, were more likely to have diabetes than women who had an A size cup. The study also claimed that it did not know why women with larger breasts were more at risk of diabetes than women who had smaller breasts.
What the study does not talk about, however, is the weight of the women. Women who have excess weight on them usually also have larger breasts, and this may have contributed to the findings of the study. Women who are thinner and who chose to make breasts bigger through surgery or herbal supplements are not at any more of a risk for diabetes than they would be if their cup size was smaller. Natural bigger breasts do not put any woman more at risk than they would be with their smaller cup size. It is women who are overweight that are more at risk for diabetes, and are the ones who should speak with their doctor about ways to avoid having to deal with diabetes.
